Experience the launch of Academic Summer China, a unique educational adventure in Guangzhou where students improve their English through CLIL-based learning.
Earlier this year, a new chapter in Academic Summer’s global journey began as our CEO Helen Lami and Head of Admissions and Finance, Betty Ho, met with a delegation of Chinese business leaders in London. That fruitful meeting paved the way for something truly exciting: the launch of our latest international camp in Guangzhou, China.
Academic Summer China takes root in Guangzhou
This summer, our very own Ellie Jones, Head of Academic and HR and mother of three, travelled to Guangzhou to lead our dynamic, CLIL-based summer programme. Ellie brought with her not only years of educational leadership but also the passion and care that make Academic Summer’s ethos so special. You can read more about Ellie’s parental perspective here.
Joining Ellie was Betty Ho, whose deep experience in admissions and international partnerships helped make this launch a reality. Together, they worked closely with our Chinese partners to deliver a summer experience that combined academic rigour, cultural enrichment and sheer fun.

Where education and adventure meet
The Guangzhou camp included interactive lessons delivered through our CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology, enabling students to improve their English while exploring subjects like science and the arts.
But it wasn’t just about classroom learning. The children enjoyed exciting excursions, cultural activities and team challenges that encouraged leadership, creativity and cross-cultural communication, which are core values of the Academic Summer experience.
Photos and videos from the camp show children beaming as they explored Guangzhou’s historic landmarks, learnt new things and made new friends.
