But what exactly is CLIL?

At Academic Summer, we proudly use the CLIL method – Content and Language Integrated Learning. This means our students don’t just learn English, they learn in English. Whether studying Science, Business, Literature, students naturally acquire language while engaging with real academic subjects. It’s a highly effective and enriching approach that helps international students thrive in British and Canadian educational environments.

CLIL helps students:

  • Gain academic subject knowledge and English skills at the same time
  • Develop confidence and critical thinking
  • Prepare for exams like A Levels or the IB
  • Communicate more clearly in a global world

Our CEO, Helen Lami, who holds a Master’s in Education (MEd TEFL) from Exeter University, has been a champion of CLIL for over a decade. She describes it as “a transformational method that makes learning more meaningful and memorable for students from all backgrounds”.

Whether you’re learning online with Living Learning English or attending a summer camp in London, Bristol or New Brunswick, CLIL is at the heart of what we do.
