In 2015, Helen Lami and Caroline Marshall of Academic Summer Camps stepped into a builders’ lift in Westminster, hard hats on, and rode it to the top of a building that was still under construction.
“What we saw from up there stopped us in our tracks,” says Helen who is Academic Summer’s Founder and CEO. “I had goosebumps especially since I knew we were going to have a summer camp there.”
That building was DLD College London and a year later, Academic Summer Camps hosted the first ever summer school at the college overlooking the Thames.
“DLD is an unbelievable location,” Helen continues. Ten years on, I still get that feeling every single time I walk through the door.”
A Summer school location like no other
Westminster is not simply an address. From the bedroom windows of DLD College, students look out over Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the the London Eye glows on the skyline at night.
