The Academic Summer team has smashed our step target for Theirworld Your Walk 2025, raising over £1,000 and walking more than four million steps for children’s education worldwide. Read our report back and see how you can still support.

Academic Summer staff lace up for change
Academic Summer’s passionate team has wrapped up the Theirworld Your Walk 2025 with a fantastic collective effort, walking an incredible 4,235,852 steps in June to help children around the world access the education they deserve.
Together, 15 dedicated walkers hit and even surpassed our original target, raising £1,000 and counting. Donations are still open and every pound goes directly to support Theirworld’s vital work providing devices, resources and opportunities for young learners, including many affected by conflict in Ukraine and other parts of the world.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, cheered us on and walked with us — together we’re helping create brighter futures, one step at a time.
Theirworld Your Walk 2025 – Our top walkers
Caroline led the team with a whopping 456,287 steps, closely followed by Danielle (379,399) and Ilmars (376,413). Not to be outdone, our CEO Helen Lami contributed 322,480 steps, leading by example and reminding us all why we do this.
“We support Theirworld because we really believe that education is for everyone,” said Helen. “It’s a powerful weapon to change the world, as Nelson Mandela said. This is why our team worked to hard to achieve four million steps and we invite you to please give something if you can.”
We used the Pacer App to set and monitor our 4 million target and as you can see from the chart below, the competition was fierce. Some of us tried to do the Theirworld recommended 10,000 steps a day and others did much more!!!
Theirworld Your Walk – why we walk
Some of our walkers shared what kept them moving:
Danielle: “I’ve seen how transformative a good education can be. Unfortunately, millions of children around the world don’t have that chance, especially young girls. Theirworld are helping children get the education they need so that’s why we got our walking shoes on and walked as many steps as we could!”
Betty: “Education means equal opportunity for the future. It’s so important that we’re all on board to support Theirworld, to raise awareness and to help create equal opportunities for our future children.”
Caroline: “Academic Summer participated in Theirworld Your Walk this June because education is our bread and butter — it’s what we’re about. We know education can bring about real change. I’m lucky enough to have two master’s degrees, just because of the country I was born in. Not everyone has that privilege. So, we’re walking to help give children around the world their basic education back.”
